To Etsy or not to Etsy? That is the question...

There are pros and cons.

My cons being:
  • There's a lot of people on there
  • It's all in dollars
  • I just don't know if it's worth me listing anything (and paying to do so) if it's just going to get buried amongst a load of sh*t.

My pros being:
  • There's some really great stuff there
  • There's teams to help promote each other
  • They have a mahoosive client base (good sales-wise and networking-wise)
  • My more recent work (comic bubble hearts) have not debuted there... I am interested to get a reaction.
  • I feel as though I 'should' be there. Cos anyone who is anyone in the independent design game is there.
Hmm. Any thoughts, anyone?

xoxo

the listing fees on etsy aren't too prohibitive, so since you already have photos and such it might not hurt.. I've found many of my favorite jewelers (and other items) on there.
the jewelry market there (as anywhere) is saturated
I've been planning on starting an etsy resin team once I get my own etsy shop stuff together.
made a google group for announcements and plans on that tip

Hmmm, tough decision! I have felt the same in the past, but all in all I think Etsy is good to get my name out there, etc.

I do shop on etsy quite a bit even though I live in the UK and I think a lot of people share what they find on there. Your stuff is amazing and really stands out - methinks I will have to blog about it sometime in the next week :)

Do it. The listing fees are almost nothing so you wouldn't be risking much and potentially you'd be getting into a huge market. I just did a quick search for 'resin necklace comic' and there were only 42 results! Obviously there will be more that haven't been tagged that way but it doesn't look like what you do is oversaturated... And 'resin necklace retro' has only 723 (that's still only 22 pages) and having a quick skim through them your photos are way more fab so you'll stand out. Go for it.

I just got my 500th sale on Etsy today :)

I have a shop on Etsy and have not had much success outside of family and friends, and the other sales I have had have been from USA, Canada and OZ. The articles I have read about Etsy do say that it can take up to 18months before you start getting lots of sales as you have to get your name out - and there are a lot! But you should have your first sale within 6 months -but I believe that you will be selling your stuff much much sooner than that! I say go for it - nothing much to lose but huge amounts to gain! Good luck!
