Mama's got a brand new bag

Mother alerted me on Saturday that she had had a terrible biro-related incident whereby a handbag and two purses were ruined - leaving nowhere to keep her notes and coins.  How coincidental, I was on my way to SewYou Studios where I picked up this - I think perfect if you are thinking of picking something special for your ma for Mother's Day.

What do you think is the perfect Mother's Day gift? Link me up!

SewYou is a family-run Yorkshire business producing unique gifts and accessories, specialising in made-to-order products that won't break the bank.

Music to make your insides POP! #1

Aw in't January whacko?! The weather here in Britain has been the absolute pits - it doesn't inspire me to get out of bed on a Monday morning!

A good selection of feel good muzik on your portable music device is an instant way to lift the spirits on the journey into work/school.

This one never fails to put me in a great mood. It reminds me of the time when I was in Austin and I was refused entry to a bar to eat. I sat in a cafe around the corner until the food was ready and we ate in the park instead, but I had a great chat with the barista about the time I saw this performed at Magna 'it blew my mind'.

I heart... welcoming signs

Something that The Penthouse lacks right now is something to say the door is always open for guests (just give me a ring before you come, sometimes I like to have naked days).  here's a selection of nice welcoming homewares:

♥ Vintage Wooden 'Welcome' Blocks by Seahorse on Not On The High Street

♥ Free hugs we're open' sign by Sunny Champagne on Etsy

Lovely

I heart... Retro stripes

Ever since I saw my friends amazing attempt at lone decorating, where she radically hung her stripey wallpaper horizontally, I've been digging retro stripes.  Come see...

Ooh how cosy does this look?

I want this in my life and wardrobe so bad... ♥

 Hope you love!

I heart... Very cherry!

Love the look - hate the taste, but who could resist these cherry-picked (sorry) lovelies from around the web...?

So retro! I just want to put on my 50s spotty dress and eat one of these whilst making 'ooh, gosh' expressions!

I heart: Journalers

I wish I was a better doodler and once I went to Muji and bought a notebook to make awesome journal doodles and notes but I drew something and it looked shit so I never bothered again! But I do like to look at other awesome journalers (did I make up that word? I don't know...) check out their Flickrs!

Big favourite - Anna Denise
I have been stalking following Anna's work on Flickr for a while. It's bloody awesome.

Too too cute - Kitty Pink Stars

...who is showcasing a 30 Journal Challenge. Her work reminds me of the covers of Jacqueline Wilson books (which is pretty cool)

...makes me want to get the felt tips out! Wy did teachers tell us at school 'no felt tips'? What a stupid rule.
Happy journaling!

I heart - Little Red Riding Hood

I'm a fan of all the trad fairy tales, and a personal favourite is Red Riding Hood, because I used to visit my Grandma daily (although I didn't have to trek through the woods, I did used to worry some sort of baddy might have got her because she lived alone).  Here's some Red Riding Hood related lusts:

Little Red Riding Hood Graphic Art Print - what could be more perfect for display in the studio?

Love!

Leg love

I am loving day dresses at the moment and am building up quite a gorgeous selection.  I do have very pasty skin and refuse to paint it orange (yes, I believe even just the orange tone of level 6 looks ridiculous) and so tights are the way forward for me.  Currently loving my white tights (have ribbed and lacy) and bright  red ones (just plain)... but just check out these top picks by independent designer/maker/retailers. Lust!

Want! Want! More to add to my 'must buy' list...

Hope you love... xoxo

Recent indie snaffles and buys

I'll keep it brief, I want to go eat my Covent Garden Carrot and Coriander soup. Mum makes it better but she's not brought me any in a while (don't think I am neglected...)

Entered giveaway by the superb Magasin (KitschenSink-approved, cross-stitched coolness) via their Facebook page.

Won.
Received awesome package :)

I wear it with my navy shift dress and everyone loves it

I also indulged and bought the Love From Hetty and Dave Swallow Headband.

See how well I rock it?

I like my hair more today. What I have found is that I should not straighten it. It looks much better.

Preparing for festival chic

Now, you'll find this really difficult to believe, but, even though I am really cool I have never been to a proper sleepover festival before. The closest I have got in my 27 years of festival-less existance is B-Fest (or Bingley Music Live, as it's formally called).

So even though the line-up isn't as cracking as it's been in the past, Natalie and I have tickets to Leeds Festival this year. I am very excited about seeing the Cribs because I was poorly last time!

Here's some festival glamour lusts:

Nautical and kaftan? What a combination!

Pretty feathers :)

Woodchip Boutique Bow Satchel - Woodchip Boutique (available at Manchester Fashion Market, Tib St)
Will be buying one of these, eye them up every time I go to Manchester!

So I best get saving! If anyone has any toilet tips I'd love to know (She Wee?)

Gorgeous spring vintage finds

Salivating! ...or 'salivatating', as I would normally say, but it turns out I made up that word... vintage gorgeousness. Lust
I'd so rock these!

Love this. Don't think I am skinny enough. Must stop with the Nutella.

I'd rock this too. Tied around my head.

Hope you love! Happy Wednesday

I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow!

Are you getting bored of all this Alice in Wonderland themed stuff? I know I am. I do love the whole Alice stuff but it's getting a little commercial. So here's an alternative: The Wizrd of Oz! I do love that story too.

Here's some WoO themed goodies made from independent designers, far and wide.

RubySparkles 8x10 Print Matte by Linda Boucher

Where is Toto Bangle Bracelet - by Frosted Willow

There's No Place Like Home // Original Framed Artwork on vintage book page by Wall Envy Art

Note to self...

I whole-heartedly believe self-gratification is the way forward (not in a sex way) and these note cards are so sweet, I want to buy them and write lovely things in them and post them to myself!

Not just a note card but something to make and do too! Love it.

This reminds me of Vivienne Westwood goodies :)

Ooh how wonderful to recieve a cute shaped mail! Like someone threw you a paper plane and it made its way all the way to your letter box :)

There's my three indie lusts of the week. What are you lusting after?

Adult applique please?

Before I start, I need you to know just how hard this post was to research.  I mean, I am going to sound really harsh now, but looking through some of the applique stuff for grown ups made me want to be sick.  They fall into a couple of categories - 'shabby chic' style, which I think has had it's day (or at least stick to homewares for the genre), or circles layered onto each other to represent flowers or trees. Come on. Who's going to wear that? I saw some designs that had the right idea but were just terribly made. So if anyone's looking for a gap in the market...

I digress.  I have managed to find three cool things, I think you'll agree, from some awesome independent designers. Lusting!

And... gosh gosh, love, Love, LOVE this!

In fact all of With Love From Hetty and Dave's goodies are great grown-up appliqued leather. I want lots. Saw them in the flesh at Spitalfields Market last week and they really are awesome. I feel a spend coming on...
