A double Kitschen Sink TV appearance as Britain Unzipped trends worldwide!

Kitschen Sink made a double appearance last night on the last episode in the series of Britain Unzipped!

During the main part of the show, Russell wore his Kitschen Sink Love Lego ring in red.

In the VT he was wearing the classic Kitschen Sink skull mini-pin - from the brand new collection!

And best of all - Britain Unzipped was trending worldwide by the end of the show. Awesome and deserved!

Kitschen Sink on... Britain Unzipped with Russell Kane

That's right, the Pow mini-pin has made another TV appearance, this time on the new TV show Britain Unzipped, presented by Russell Kane.

I heart Russell and Russell hearts Kitschen Sink, but will Russell heart Rowan when she meets him next month? Eek!

I'm so pleased he loves his pin so much!

POW! On Russell Kane on Geordie Shore

I just can't get enough of Russell Kane, and seemingly he can;t get enough of his Kitschen Sink POW! Pin.

We last saw Russell wearing his Pow! pin in December when he tweeted a picture of himself having a cuddle with his new Pug Captain Colin, then on his spot on the Graham Norton Christmas Special.  But last night he presented the whole Geordie Shore Reunion show on MTV wearing his Pow! Pin on his snappy suit. Holla!

Holla! Love ya Russell!

As seen on TV! Tape measure bracelet on 'Baking Mad'

Yes! I've just been catching up on Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard which is a daytime TV show on Channel 4 (I've been watching it on 4OD) - spotting that the lovely Zoe Biscombe who runs the awesome Iron Cupcake contest in Leeds was a contestant.  She's sporting none other than a Kitschen Sink Measure Of My Dreams bracelet!

♥ Zoe and fellow contestant working against the clock...

♥ Measuring ingredients...

♥ Filling the profiterole...

♥ And her winning masterpiece - a choux pastry "religious"....

Yum! Feeling a bit peckish now....!

Well done, Zoe!

Valentine love... ♥

My second posting of the day! I just had to post the love I got today. It's such a great feeling to get happy messages from people who received Kitschen Sink jewellery as gifts. Boys can get gifts so wrong, but for these ladies, the lads seemed to get it spot on!

Recent feature: The World of Kitsch

I was super proud to notice we'd been featured in the multi-award winning blog 'The World of Kitsch' recently.

'The World of Kitsch' is a blog of retro wonders & curiosities.  It has been mentioned by Lauren Laverne on her BBC Six Music Show, is a Cosmopolitan Blog Award Winner and was shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Social Media Awards.  Claire is guest blogger at Cosmopolitan too!

The writer behind the blog, Claire Smythe, spotted Kitschen Sink pieces being tweeted and loved them, and posted them to the blog within what seemed like seconds!

Impressively, within minutes of being featured a piece had been snapped up by a celebrity! The power of social media!

Thanks to Claire for taking the time to feature me :)

Our TV Debut courtesy of Russell Kane and the Graham Norton Christmas Special

The POW mini-pin gave Kitschen Sink its TV debut last night courtesy of Russell Kane on the Graham Norton Christmas Special.  The show was aired at 10.35pm last night on BBC1.

I had been led to understand that Russell would be wearing it after seeing his tweet last week... but after reading through his Twitter updates yesterday morning and seeing some photos he shot during filming (stalker alert!) I noticed he was wearing a Christmas jumper and I couldn't see the pin.  I was a bit gutted... Off I went to do the last minute bits of Christmas shopping...

In the evening:

Julia had spotted Russell wearing the pin on the ad before the news.  I was completely frozen to the seat! I had to ring her to make sure and she rewound it twice.  Fo' shiz, it was the POW pin!

He was joined on the couch by the guy who plays Doctor Who and Gillian Anderson (fellow hot ginge of X Files fame).

Check out Gillian eyeballing the pin badge!!  I wonder if she wants one too (call me if you do, Scully),

What a marvelous early Christmas gift for me!

The show is available to watch for the next seven days on BBC iPlayer here.

Sigh ♥ No, I won't be watching over and over again and drooling. I won't. Yeah, I will.

Find the POW mini-pin here, and the POW necklace here.

Russell Kane ♥z Kitschen Sink... POW!

Look what Russell Kane was wearing when he tweeted today:

That's right, his very own Kitschen Sink POW Mini-Pin!  And he loves it!

Men have been asking for some Kitschen Sink-for-boys for a while but it's so difficult to get a good masculine:kitsch ratio.

These mini-pins have hit the spot perfectly - and Russell is just the sort of guy I wanted to see rocking them.

Russell Kane is my favourite comedian and TV personality and the only reason I watch ITV2.

Hot damn.

Sigh.

Shortlisted! Leeds Retail Awards!

Oh wow. I can't tell you how happy I am to deliver this exciting news!  I have been shortlisted in two, yes two categories in the Leeds Retail Awards!

The first category is Local Designer, and the second is Jewellery... how ace would it be for a little independent such as myself to win this, since last year it was like Pandora or something?

But I do need votes, lots of votes, to actually win!

♥ Vote here for Rowan Grant - Kitschen Sink in Local Designer and Jewellery categories ♥

Fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes crossed! x_x

Thrilled to see LeLook.eu, the very cool Barcelona based trend-watch blog, have featured Kitschen Sink in their 'news' section!

LeLook.eu style blog

Loving the style the model is rocking for these shots! I find it fascinating how other people dress up my work.

Massive thanks and love to Hebe Media for involving me in the Leeds in Barcelona project, and for believing in Kitschen Sink! I'm really, really pleased to have been part of a project that puts Leeds on the world map of cool. Regular readers of my blog know it's something I am passionate about - and to be part of what's selling it? Wow!

You wanted a video...

A while ago I did a video of a regional dialect meme and got many requests to do another video.  Well, those wonderful Hebe Media people interviewed me as part of the Leeds in Barcelona project.

Celebrity seal of approval: The Broken Hearts

'Turntable goddesses' The Broken Hearts have given our Thunderbolt and Lightening Brooch their celebrity seal of approval!

The fashion folk say:

“The Broken Hearts lead a new wave of female DJ groups who look and sound great” - Elle

"Meet the she-jays - the new cool DJ girls whose style you'll be desperate to steal" - Grazia

"Turntable Goddesses Amber and Nisha are guaranteed to pull out a plethora of delights from both the DJ crate and the dressing-up box" - Time Out

The Broken Hearts say:

"We dress identically when we DJ, and always use our Broken Hearts for Hulger telephone handsets instead of headphones.  We've been booked for brands such as Selfridges, Tate, Topshop PPQ, Paul Smith... We've also appeared as fashion commentators on shows such as T4s Frock Me".

"We love them!" (Thunderbolt and Lightening Brooches)

Rowan says:

Cripes! I first heard of The Broken Hearts when they DJ'd at Craftacular back in 2009.  I've been keeping a beady eye on them ever since because I totally love their fun sense of style - it's certainly KitschenSink approved! I'm super proud that Amber and Nisha have given KitschenSink their seal of approval by wearing these at a gig - they are so big on the fashion scene, it means a lot!"

My names on the Guardian website? Fancy.

If you didn't know already, I'm top media slag about town.  I'm a shameless, press whore of a designer-maker who loves to see her name in lights (well, print, but start small dream BIG, I say).

So imagine my delight to see 'Rowan Grant and her fashion jewelry label Kitschen Sink' written on the Guardian website! Please have a read, and comment to show your support for Leeds' independent creatives and the 'scene' of the city.

Thanks Hebe!

Jewelz on tour! with Hebe Media and Marketing Leeds

Some KitschenSink jewellery and accessories are being used as part of Leeds in Barcelona: A Creative Encounter.

They say:
A collective of Leeds’ creative talent will head to Barcelona this May as Marketing Leeds returns to the Spanish city to promote Leeds’ emerging creative economy and further strengthen the ties between the two cities.
Following on from the success of the original ‘Leeds in Barcelona’ event in 2010, Marketing Leeds is working with Leeds based company Hebe Media and one of Spain’s most influential fashion websites, LeLook, on ‘Leeds in Barcelona - a creative encounter’.  The event, which will take place from 20th – 22nd May, is being sponsored by Jet2.com.
The Leeds collective will include fashion designers, musicians and key influencers from the creative sector whose work will be used to showcase the city.  An audience of opinion formers from Barcelona will experience a snapshot of Leeds through a number of fashion shows and performances.

Hebe Media say:
There are lots of opportunities for the talent involved in this project. There will be buyers, writers, tour-bookers, DJs, producers and others who will attend, so there are some great opportunities for new business and personal relationships to be formed. There will be international press including TV, radio, magazines, newspapers, bloggers, photographers and general opinion leaders who will get their first taste of Leeds during this event.

KitschenSink say:
OMG?! Seriously?
KitschenSink also say:
I am honoured to be part of this project.  Anyone who knows me knows how into Leeds I am, and how committed I am to their independent scene - be it arts, shopping, bars, coffee houses, music and the rest... to be part of something that's promoting that in super-cool Barcelona... well, wowee!  I am super honoured to be starring alongside James Steward and Dominic Al-Samarraie who have been winning 'Best Local Designer' for a few years at Leeds Retail Therapy Awards, and featuring ICS and Back to Basics... what a recipe for success...

I also had a lot more to say in my video which will no doubt be posted on the Hebe Blog soon, and I'll link to it when it's up!  I met the Hebe guys and everyone else in the project on Monday at the super swanky Malmaison Hotel.  I was questioned several times by the staff  'what are you here for?', how very dare they...!  All the folks involved are really beautiful people (to look at and in spirit) - I wish I was joining them over there, I know it's going to be something really special. I can't wait to see their film and photos!

Keep an eye on the Hebe Media blog for interviews with everyone invovled: Dave Beer of 'Back to Basics' club night is up already :)  I wonder if subtitles will be required for the rest of the planet to understand our Yorkshire accents?

More on this to follow, no doubt!

This was London: 5 Feb 2011

I went to London on Saturday! Here's a run down of ace things, chance happenings and other stuff:

♥ I managed to drag my arse out of bed at 5.15am
♥ I got two seats together on the train and took my shoes off... and spread out all nice!
♥ Samantha and I took out a flask of peppermint tea and two proper cups!

Look at how we chose a place to drink tea that matched Samantha's outfit

♥ I tried on many pairs of sunglasses for my trip to Austin later this year
♥ Samantha got papped by Elle Streetstyle team, and she was wearing the Forecast of Fun cloud necklace! Aces.

Here's the stylist taking Samantha's details. He had heard of KitschenSink already! Household name now!

♥ We popped into Selfridges to see Supermarket Sarah's new concession. I spotted my friend Magasin's work

♥ Fell in love with this shop 'Artbox'. Proper awesome kawaii stationery, and reasonable prices too! Forget Paperchase!
♥ Lots of lovely chocolate samples in the food hall
♥ Weird flower tea that tasted like perfume... eugh
♥ Lola's Cupcakes!
I got a peanut butter one, Samantha had carrot :P

♥ Gorgeous olives and stuffed vine leaves from Borough Market
♥ Bumped into friends from home by London Bridge
♥ Marco made a super chickpea dish. I could be vegetarian if he cooked for me every day.
♥ Red wine and Take Me Out and laughs and reminiscing
♥ Kisses from Solina in the night!

Ace weekend :) Thanks to Samantha and Marco for having me ♥

Did I mention... Eliza Doolittle?

Rising starlet Eliza Doolittle has been photographed wearing a Wild Jezebel necklace made by little old me!

There's no excuse for not knowing who this girl is. Even if you don't follow the charts, surely you've heard her music on the Very.co.uk ad...

If you want one for yourself... you know where to find it...

My personal favourite is 'Pack up'
