Folksy Finds Friday - Art and Ghosts

I was logging in to Folksy earlier and saw this on the front page. Anything to do with ginger hair, I love! So I had to click through...

I love the style: beautiful and haunting. Louise of Art and Ghosts' influences are fairytales, mythology, dolls, spectres, dreams and nature, and you can certainly see them here. A few of my favourites:

Hope you enjoy...
Have a super weekend xoxo

Fab, fab day & a feature!

Yesterday I held a stall at the Fairtrade Fair at the University of Leeds. It went really well!

The lockets are my most expensive item, I had four to sell and they all went - along with two girls who came to the stall early and said they couldn't choose which they liked best and they would come back later - only to find they were sold out!

So my aim for the next few weeks is to make up many, many more items in that style!

I also got some good leads, including a girl who thought the lockets would go down a treat at Burlesque parties. So I'm going to follow that up when I get more stock together!

I could really do with sorting my stall out so it's more three-dimensional, but keeping it compact and lightweight... not easy.

Also, many thanks to Ceri who featured me in her Style Eyes blog. Read the interview here.

Is it the weekend yet?

Just a few bits in preparation for tomorrow

Well... I haven't spent as much time as I'd hoped for the stall I am having tomorrow. It's at work so I am kinda bothered about how it looks.

I can get stressed out over this, so it's probably good someone has been taking my mind off it.

Anyway, here's a few bits from the last few days... I know you have seen the pink Lego before, but I needed something extra to make a square! Sue me!

Wish me luck... I am skint so let's hope I make some £££!

KitschenSink Tip for Craftrepreneurs and a quick announcement...

I have been deliberating over my prices for a while. It's hard to come up with an equation that takes everything into account, so formerly I have been totting up my materials in my head, then just sort of thinking 'well if I double it, then it'll be this... so.. yeah', which isn't really good enough.

I was having a gander in the Folksy Forums one day and Chris Parry, awesome bespoke jewellery designer, mentioned he had a spreadsheet in his blog available for download. If you are a crafter who sells their work I strongly advise you give this a go. It's an eye opener.

So my prices maybe changing in the next few weeks. I know I still have to bare in mind there is a credit crunch, I just hope shoppers can bare in mind that items from Primark are so cheap because they were made by children in India whose fingers possibly bled during the process. That and God knows how many million other people are wearing exactly the same thing.

I am mad with myself today because I spent a lot of time getting some pendants ready, to find today that the chains won't fit through the bails... brilliant, considering I have a stall to sell at on Wednesday!

I'd love to know what f*ck ups you have made whilst crafting!

My new gift boxing service & more pink Swarovski Lego madness

So I love how hand made items are often displayed beautifully at fairs, shows and in shops... their products look like gifts, and felt mine was lacking that a little.

I've made these boxes from vintage comic books and annual editions. They look terrific. But a few things bothered me a little. 1) The time making these and money for materials will bump the prices up, leading to 2) if a customer is buying for themself, would they prefer to have the product cheaper without extra packing, and 3) the thicker size means postage has to upgrade from 'large letter' to 'packet'.

I have added the boxes as optional, so if you want one, you can have one, at extra cost.
How's that? I'd LOVE to know your thoughts on this. They are on both Folksy(£) and Etsy($).

I have had a commission for a Swarovski on a Pink Glittery Lego Ring already - here's what it looks like...

And here's another listing in my current pink Lego fixation. It has a Swarovski as standard on the bottom nobble and is strung on a silver-plated string... ch'mon! Available at both Folksy(£) and Etsy($).

So, yeah. I'd love to know what you think of my 'boxes being extra' idea? And folks, even without a Blogger account you can leave a comment, as 'anonymous' (it might be an idea to state somewhere in the comment who you are, although you don't have to!)

Folksy Finds Friday - Purple Sparkle Crafts

You may or may not know that I am trying to lose weight. I'm not a proper fatty, but I am single, and it's best to be looking good in that situation.

But I do love cake... and these have no calories... honest... thanks Purple Sparkle

Rose Petal & Ylang Ylang Fizzing Bath Melt

One has to indulge one way or another... this is less sinful... perhaps a nice cup of low calorie hot chocolate whilst I'm in the bath would go down well...

Have a fab weekend xoxo

New item! gLiTz LeGo gLaMoUr RiNg

These are limited edition for as long as I can get the Lego for... so grab them quick, I doubt they will be around for long!

Limited edition PINK GLITTERY LEGO mounted on an adult size, adjustable, silver plated ring. For an extra £1, I can add an AB (clear crystal that sparkles in colours) sWaRoVsKi CrYsTaL to one of the nobbles.

It's super spangly, super girly and you won't be seeing many others (if any) around!

Buy in dollars here on Etsy

Or buy in GB pounds here on Folksy

If you could have any colour/pattern/texture of Lego on jewellery - what would it be like?

♥ One hundred hearts ♥

I just had a little look at my hearts on Etsy it it turned out I had exactly 100! I'm very pleased, since I rarely use the 'heart me and I'll heart you' tactic (I say 'rarely', I think I did it like, once on Twitter). So it's nice to know out of those 100 they must all like my products.

Awesome.

In other news, I had hoped to get photographing my work on weekdays again as it's lighter. Unfortunately, day job has been so busy I am still getting home when it's too dark. Hopefully I will get it done soon, if not, the weekend.

I have a stall coming up soon - this Wednesday at University of Leeds in Parkinson Court. Should be a busy one, fingers crossed! Lots to do in advance of then!

Twit-twoo - I ♥ my Twitter followers!

Over on Ismoyo's Playground blog I noticed this cool way of showing of your Twitter followers!

If you want to follow me a bit more closely than on the blog then Twitter is the place to be. Some call it 'micro-blogging'. I'm in such a mood today. I think it would be wrong to air my dirty laundry on here. This big text box begs for me to pour my heart out in intricate detail, which is wrong. I only have a few characters' allowence in Twitter, so I tend to put a little this and that in there... and vent to my content.

So here's to you, Twitter followers. Today I say thank you for listening to my whinges, and in many cases, replying with kind words.

I had a nice weekend but it's all tainted with ill feeling, and IMO, it's unecessary.
I hope your weekend was abso-fabulosi
