Preparing to Pop-up #4: Obstacles!

So it seems that for the last month or so, my post has been stolen. I'm talking packages too big for the post-box. They are being left outside, but then taken.  This is really frustrating, especially since the majority of things I buy online, little other people would know what to do with (like the large resin order that went), although someone, somewhere is enjoying some lovely poached eggs made in silicone poachers. I've complained to the post office twice and stuck a note on my postbox, so it shouldn't happen any more.

On a lighter note, my very generous, thoughtful, friend Jemma came back from a recent trip to London with a sweet gift for me! Isn't it darling?!

Never again will my business cards get tatty hanging around in the bottom of my handbag!

My new addiction: The Only Way is Essex

So it's not secret that I love to watch trashy telly as I make my sellables.  Anything with an advert break will do (I use that time to get more supplies from the other room, etc).

My latest love is The Only Way is Essex. I heard people talking about it on my Facebook newsfeed and was intrigued... and hooked in the first five minutes.

Although, personally, I'm not a fan of fake tan, fake hair or fake boobs (got them all already, darling... except the tan...), it's entertaining watching the lives of people who value those things highly in their lives.

My favourite female character is Amy. She's got the vague, ditsy, sweetness about her that's stereotypically 'beautician'.

My favourite male character is Mark. Tan and muscles is the opposite to my usual 'type' but I just can't resist this boy's cheeky charm. He's a right twat to his ex, though.

I did think about whether one of the 'characters' might want to wear some of my jewellery, but, I reckon they are more down with their Pandora or Vivienne orbs than their KitschenSink!

What trash do you enjoy? I'd love some recommends!

Preparing to Pop-up #3: Your photos needed!

I'm after some shots of my lovely buyers wearing their treasured KitschenSink jewels!

I'm going to put them on the wall of my pop-up shop so Joe Public can see just how good you look wearing the goods.

Either email them to hello@kitschensink.com or upload to the KitschenSink Facebook wall!

Preparing to Pop-up #2: Stock - handmade envelopes

Expect the majority of posts up until the Knitting and Stitching Show to be brief!

I'm finding this both therapeutic and addictive. I'm making handmade envelopes from my stashes of comic book annuals.

So far I've made 25 packs of five and they are all bound together with a strip of brightly coloured paper.
They look soooo cute! I want to get snail mailing myself!

Coming soon... vintage comic-covered notebooks!

Preparing to Pop-Up!

It's been a while, blog readers.  I've been busy making lists and checkin' 'em twice for my pop-up shop at The Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate from Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th November.

I'm on a beg, steal and borrow to kit out my 2m x 2m space.

So far I have planned borrow:

A proper shop mannequin
A tailor's dummy
Two of the same pedestal tables from different people
A hand (not a favour, an actual fake hand)
A little table for me to work at

So far I have begged:
Photos from customers wearing my designs (send them to hello@kitschenSink.com)
A day each from various of my pals to 'play shop' with me
A lift from my parents on set up/clear away days in their big car
Ideas of how to display certain bits of jewellery
7" records for top tiers on my cake stands:

So far I have stolen:
Boxes from work that paper is delivered in
That's it so far, I'm too honest for this stealing malarky

So far I have bought:
Some fabric to use as a table cloth on one of the pedestals (how cool?):

So I'm in full swing making shizzle for the four-day event. All the old favourites and a few other bits and bobs. More on that soon...
