Folksy Finds Friday - Dolly Knits

Bleedin Nora it's cold out there. I need somethng gorgeous that will keep me warm too. I don't know about you but I love a chunky cable knit. Dolly Knits were designed with me in mind. I'm sure. "Dolly Knits is a little knitty shop full of lovingly handknitted woollies just for you". See, it said so.

Extra long Pom Pom Chunky Woolen Scarf in Grey

And something a little different. It won't keep you warm, but who cares when you look this cute?
Pretty Red Handknitted Bow Alice Band

Today I am a mixture of emotions. Head messed up over boys. I get this may every few months. And super chuffed because a locket has sold already, and on Etsy too.
Have a super weekend y'all

Folksy Finds Friday - Pippa's Long Stockings

I'm not sure how I found my way to Pippa's shop. I think she commented on my blog one day, so I subscribed to hers. She has a lovely personal blog where she shows us the other things she makes, not just what she sells... you should subscribe too.

She makes an array of lovely things that she puts in her happy little shop... sock creatures, neck warmers, badges...

I received my order from her last week - a custom order of some London Tube map badges - she already made them but I wanted some with specific stations on them. Here they are, click on the photo if ya like it ;o)

And the craziest sock creatures. This is Blue Spotty and he loves big breakfasts and cups of tea.

If you Flickr you can find Pippa's Arty Life photostream here, and if you like to read a blog or two you can find it here.

Enjoy xoxo

I heart - Karaoke

I used to hate karaoke. What is it about Ronan Keating, that 98% of men who sing on karaoke think they can take him off really well? Then you'll get a girl with massive gold earrings attempting a Celine Dion ballad that will make your eyes water, your ears bleed and dogs within a 2 mile radius chase their tails.

About this time last year, a Karaoke bar opened in the nearby city (OK Karaoke). We went to opening night, I was a little apprehensive. A couple of wines later and I was giving it some with the best of them. Try keeping me off now!

Here's me, singing some Gwen Stefani. I'm also partial to a little Jamiroquai and the Ting Tings. I should also mention I am modelling my hand made jewellery in real-time here!

What's your karaoke song of choice?

Thank God

That's right. What did you thank him for today? Check out how many people are thanking God on ThankGod's Twitter page. I felt a little emotional after reading some entries. Kinda like a modern day way to listen to people's prayers.

Today I thanked God for telling my work to upgrade to Office 2007. It's brightened up my working life (I'm pretty sure we were using Office 97, the grey and blue one).

What did you thank God for today?

Sneaky Peek

A few things I have been working on....

Lockets for the Kawaii Couture range... these feature real swarovski crystals! The lockets themselves are now done, I just need to decide on the necklace part. Think I'll go beaded, but I am undecided and open to suggestions!

Another of the lockets - this one featuring a subtly glittery background.

The ToOtH RoT SpRiNkLe cabochons... as earrings. They look very cool on!

... and something that's taking a little more work but I think will be worth it. It's a vintage comic inside a bangle. I decoupaged the speech bubbles in myself. This isn't good enough to sell but till be good enough to wear when finished. There are some bubbles in the resin and some dark spots in the speech bubbles but I know how to put the right for next time. Pendants from the same range are also being made, but awaiting a second layer of resin.

I managed to crack on with this over the weekend as I have a cold again and in quarantine.
What do you think?

What's in a name?

I'll admit I have been known to Google my own name. I'm paranoid, not egotistical (I can be narcissistic, but that's not why I ever Googled myself).

So I had a little look on Flickr for photos tagged 'Rowan'. And this is what occurred, how special.

1. When Autumn freeses, winter comes, berries from a Rowan Tree
2. anna5, I believe there is a brand of wool called Rowan, and these socks are HOT
3. Port Rowan Harbour, I never knew there was a place in Canada called Rowan!
4. Rowan 67 / DOT Shall, how coincidental, someone, it appears, has named their red-haired, green eyed doll Rowan. She's beautiful none the less.

Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? ;o) Hope you like my Flickr favourites!

Size matters? Or what you do with it that counts...?

Just made these. They have the best of both worlds if you are a 'size' girl or a 'what you do with it that counts' girl, because the buttons are big, and it's a set of a ring and a bobby pin, much cooler than the usual 'earrings and ring/necklace' sets.

Notice the new packaging? What do you think? I am undecided.

Folksy Finds Friday - Emily Tulip

The reason for lack of blogs of late is thus: nightmares. I am so, so tired, and in states of stress I sleep-walk, -talk and -spit. I know, but it's true. So I have either been in bed or making jewellery during the times I would have normally blogged.

Today's featured Folksyer is Isla of Emily Tulip. By day they sleep and dream up new ideas, by night emily mouse cuts out her pieces and tulip mouse stitches them up. They love using new and old fabrics and materials to produce interesting, colourful bits and pieces. They also make lovely fabric buttons, but there aren't any on sale here yet... let's hope they are added soon!

I absolutely love clutch bags and I love these - I think you will too!

Clutch it! Grey
Make me feel better - what's the craziest thing you ever did in your sleep? Or happened whilst you were asleep?

Something old... something new?

No, not getting married. Need a fella first (any takers...?)

I just found this photo (quality is quite shocking, sorry) of the necklace I made, the one I blogged the reaction to here. If you can't be faffed clicking, a customer of a year ago said 'it's my favourite thing. I wear it every day, I love it'. I almost cried.

It's made me think about getting back into making hand drawn jewellery. What do you think?
