Saltaire Festival Special - all very English

Ah yes, that time of year again!  Saltaire Festival is one of my most favourite events - the high end art/craft fair, the boat trips, the foreign food market stall, beer festival and party in the car park!

I was delighted to have been accepted to sell at the Art Trail Festival Special. It's one of my favourite events to sell at... always lots of characters to chat to and it's local for my friends to come by!  We also get display boards which is great, I can show off my press coverage!

The festival always feels like we are gripping onto summer with both hands, even though it has pretty much gone... I love to see the festival boat doing the rounds and people walking down the canal from the brewery.

A really awesome day.

Professional photos of the event to follow!

Shortlisted! Leeds Retail Awards!

Oh wow. I can't tell you how happy I am to deliver this exciting news!  I have been shortlisted in two, yes two categories in the Leeds Retail Awards!

The first category is Local Designer, and the second is Jewellery... how ace would it be for a little independent such as myself to win this, since last year it was like Pandora or something?

But I do need votes, lots of votes, to actually win!

Vote here for Rowan Grant - Kitschen Sink in Local Designer and Jewellery categories

Fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes crossed! x_x

Drink your greens! A delicious smoothie recipe

After my trip to the Trafford Centre I felt inspired by the smoothie concoctions in Selfridges.  I'll be honest. I'm not a massive fan of veg or salad, nor do I particularly enjoy preparing fruit. I could eat those pre-packed fruit salads all day if they weren't so expensive! Sure, it may seem lazy. But I work full time and run a couple of businesses, so what I put in my mouth, I don't like to faff with too much.

It's starting to get to that time of year where I am traditionally stressed out preparing for Christmas markets, and I just started a new job, so I need to take care of myself! So I picked up some ingredients to blast myself a super-nutritious smoothie.

This is just...

Two thirds of a glass of cloudy apple juice
Half a tin of pineapple (fresh if you can afford it)
Half a mango
Big bunch of baby spinach

...all whizzed up in a blender. Drink immediately to make the most of the nutrients, over ice!
