Day 22 — A website

I am hearting this new website called Craftsville where there's everything crafty cool in one place that's UK centric and what's more, it's run by a girl in Leeds so there's plenty of events to tickle my fancy on there!

It's run by the girl, I believe, who originally set up Leeds Craft Mafia, and all the pretty pictures were done by Helen of Hello Memo.

Why not add yourself to their links directory?

What I did at (night) school

I'm enrolled on a course at my local technology college learning about Photoshop and Illustrator and I love it!!

Here's what I have done so far. I'm tempted to print them off and pin to my Mum's fridge :)

Don't laugh... I didn't choose the graphics or the ideas! Just learning the technqiues... I'm not sure it's meant to be anything...

On this one I went wild and made my font bigger on the first letters of each word (I wasn't told to do that). Also, I aligned my text to the right before the teacher even said we should. I must have a good layout eye.  This is meant to be a book cover.

I can't wait for my next lesson!! I'm picking it up much quicker than sewing.

Day 21 — A recipe

Chocolate Brownies - these always work out really nice and draw in the crowds form miles around to the Penthouse. I'm like the Pied Piper of Hamelin, only I live in Shipley, I bake and attract people with the scent, and it has not resulted in death.

• 250g unsalted butter
• 200g dark chocolate, broken up
• 80g cocoa powder, sieved
• 65g plain flour, sieved
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 360g caster sugar
• 4 large eggs

  • Preheat oven to 180°C/gas 4.
  • Line a square baking tin with greaseproof paper.
  • In a bowl over simmering water, melt the butter and the chocolate and mix until smooth.
  • In a another bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and sugar, then add this to the melted chocolate. Stir together well. Beat the eggs and mix in until it silky.
Pour your brownie mix into the baking tray, and place in the oven for around 25 minutes. Don't overcook!

They might not seem baked enough but after leaving to cool in the tray they should have solidified and you can cut into squares.

Once a boy asked me to bake him some brownies, so I did, and then basically he dumped me because I didn't bake them as quickly as he wanted.  Yes, he was a complete div as it turned out.

Day 20 — A hobby of yours

Seriously? Well... I like to make jewellery... I also blog... oh and I like to celebrity spot. Mainly the ones from Emmerdale.  I recently saw Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi getting off the train, as well as already bumping into Joseph Gilgun (God) and sat next to Nick Miles in a restaurant.  Oh I also saw Chris Bisson coming out of Tesco once.

These are just recent ones - don't get cocky saying you have spotted loads more. I could go on, but won't.

What's cooking in the Kitschen... part-literally

Quick catch-up on what I have been up to...

I made a custom piece which I will reveal after the recipient's birthday. Almost uploaded it... oopsie!!

I got some awesome glitter and got to work embedding it into some hoops for earrings and domes for rings. I love the colours of this glitter, it was a great find! I also love it's chunkiness and the round flakes.

Obviously needs sanding but I have bigger fish to fry right now...

...because I am working on an exciting new collection! I have a mini-team working on said collection and I am hoping it makes it MASSIVE. Boom!

In other news, I gave up bread today, until my birthday (that's one month, you guys).  I feel like I am fatting out all over the place and it's because I'm not looking after myself too well. Anyway.  Day one is over and I triumphed.  Here is my tea. Look away veggies it's a chicken salad and it was awesome. It's half eaten here. And yes, that's a plastic fork, what of it?

I am excited for breakfast tomorrow because it's granola and natural yogurt! Yeah.

In even different news my sleeping behaviour has become even more erratic and I will be seeking medical expertise soon.

Bye for now xoxo

Day 19 — A talent of yours

I have a stellar long-term memory.  I have memories of my childhood that are film like and if you ask me to remember certain events I can recall who said what and what they were wearing.

It's blessing and a curse - because obviously it's great that I remember loads, but it also means I hold grudges for a long time...

Day 17 — An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)

I saw this yesterday and it made me giggle!

By Gemma Correll who has an Etsy if you'd like ot do more research

Day 16 — A song that makes you cry (or nearly)

Sorry I didn't do day 15. I was really busy, plus, I don't do FanFic.

It's a really obvious choice... but it does make me cry and I therefore avoid the song at all costs!

Get the tissues ready!

Day 14 — A non-fictional book

I had a quick look through The Jelly Effect in a recent presentation skills course and this is definitely the next book on my list to buy.

A really clever book about communication, it looks engaging and very useful.

Day 13 — A fictional book

Not a fiction fan, so this goes somewhere in between. Memoirs of Roald Dahl's childhood, Boy, is something I'd like to read soon. A teacher in middle school used to read excerpts for us. The stories are exciting and probably lead you to understand where he got his crazy ideas for his novels from.

Day 12 — Whatever tickles your fancy

My Friday...

On Friday I was invited to a preview evening of the all new Jamie's Italian restaurant in Leeds. Not only did it feel superbly exclusive to be there, but we also got 50% off.... bonus!!

Blurry photo of us outside Jamie's

We got inside and were seated next to none other than Nick Miles, who plays Jimmy King in Emmerdale

Kate P became well acquianted with our waiter, Vincent - much to the amusement of Mr Miles and his wife. We had so much fun I think they wanted to come and sit with us.  Anyways... the food was really good and so was the service and atmosphere. I'd definitely go back, it's perfect for a girls' night or a date.

So we had a few wines after which then led us unknowingly to drum and bass hell. That said, we stayed until 3.30am... I fit right in wearing my little dress, heels and clutch bag (<<< sarcasm). Fun none the less!

Hope your weekend was as fun as mine!

Day 09 — A photo you took

Took this on my phone. These are meant to be chips, but they were more like very large potatoes that had been trimmed at right angles. That on the plate is clearly pizza but it was masquerading as something else on the menu. Something like 'toasted flatbread'. We all expected toasted sandwiches.

Craziness.

Day 06 — Whatever tickles your fancy

Well I bought some boots off eBay the other day. What do you think?

My Dad will be so proud...

Day 5: A favourite quote

"If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."

Roald Dahl (The Twits)

This is very true.

Day 4: A favourite book

I'm not much of a reader. I like to read blogs and magazines because I have a short attention span. Like any project, if I don't see results straight away I don't bother. It's why I don't knit or sew.

So this is a favourite book. The Girls' Doodle Book by Andrew Pinder

Jess got this for my birthday last year and I took it away with me to Turkey. It was great for the plane journey, except there was a really jealous five year old and I didn't want to share (brought up as an only child, OK?)

There's lots of fun ideas to draw and colour. Yes I am 27.

Day 3: A favourite TV Programme

I love to catch Frock Me on T4, Channel 4, Sunday mornings, whenever I can.

They show a different fashion theme each week and different ways to wear it. Have these challenges in different towns, and I quite like Gemma Cariney too, I think she seems really sweet.

What's more, it's not a series. I love LOST and Desperate Housewives but I am so busy I often can't keep up. And if I had a recording devide I don't know if I'd find time to fit in watching them.

What TV show do you love?
